How To Set Up Your Car Privacy Curtain

To set up the Car Privacy Curtain, check out our install video here, or follow the instructions below.

  1. Remove the Car Privacy Curtain from the carrying pouch and unroll it so the Luno logo faces up.
  2. Loosen the adjustment straps.
  3. Unbuckle the Handle Anchors from the adjustment straps.
  4. Wrap one Handle Anchor around each of the backseat grab handles. Pass the buckle through the loop for a secure, snug fit.
  5. On the passenger side of your vehicle, open both the front and rear doors. Prop the curtain up, ensuring that the Luno logo faces toward the back of the vehicle. Attach the right adjustment strap to the Handle Anchor buckle so the strap passes outside your car and wraps around the door pillar. (Pictured)
  6. Find the Pillar Pad–the cushioned segment that wraps around the adjustment strap. Adjust the Pillar Pad so that it is centered over the door pillar. This will protect your paint job. (Pictured)
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the driver’s side.
  8. Once the curtain is hanging from the Handle Anchors, pull on the adjustment straps on both sides to tighten and straighten the curtain. It’s important that you don’t overtighten the straps, as this can loosen or even break your grab handles. You’re looking for a snug, straight fit–a strained, ultra-taut rig job is unnecessary.
  9. Locate the cinchable Anchor Cords on either side of the curtain. Wrap the cords around the standing end of the front seatbelts, then pass them through the yellow loops on the curtain itself, before finally cinching the locking mechanism down. This will keep the curtain in place. (Pictured)
  10. Now that your curtain is set up, you’re ready to enjoy some privacy at camp! Want to prop open the curtain? Simply slide open the curtain, then secure the curtain in place by popping the side Anchor Cords through the yellow loops on the inner edges of the curtains. (Pictured)
  11. If you decide to leave the curtain installed while driving, no problem. Just make sure to detach the Anchor Cords from the seatbelts so the curtain doesn’t compromise seatbelt functionality. After detaching the Anchor Cords from the seatbelts, loop the Anchor Cords back through the inner yellow loops, bunching one curtain behind the driver’s seat and the other behind the front passenger seat. Before you drive, check your mirrors and blind spots to make sure the bunched curtains don’t impede your driving.

WARNING: Safety Precautions

  • Do not overtighten the straps, as this can loosen or break your grab handles.
  • Do not drive with the curtain closed.
  • Do not drive with the side Anchor Cords looped around the seat belts.
  • Check your mirrors and blind spots before you drive. If the curtain is blocking your vision, adjust or uninstall before driving.

How To Store The Car Privacy Curtain

  1. Detach the Handle Anchors and seat belt Anchor Cords.
  2. Lay the curtain flat and fold it in half width-wise, then length-wise.
  3. Roll up the curtain, starting with the edge where the straps are attached, being mindful not to bend the rods.
  4. Slide the bundled curtain into the included carrying case.

Care Instructions

If your privacy curtain gets dirty from life on the road, try wiping it down with a damp cloth. For more stubborn stains, blot or scrub with a solution of water and dish soap or laundry detergent as needed. Do not run your Car Privacy Curtain through the wash, as this can damage the curtain itself as well as your laundry machine.
